This tour takes you to the heartland of Tibetan plateau. If you are interested in ancient Tibetan history and culture then this is the trip for you. Starting from the old Tibetan capital Lhasa you will be driven to Gyantse and Shigatse, the two most important cities after Lhasa. As you are driven along the central Tibetan plateau, you will get to see the old forts and citadels of the Tibetan kings, great monasteries with histories as old as Tibet, caves painted with beautiful murals, which were used as retreats by Buddhist monks, and the hardy Tibetans whose faith and belief in Buddhism is woven in their daily life. Scenic vistas like the one at the Yamdrok-tso Lake and the snowy summit of Nyichen kangsang (7206m) will be a treat for sore eyes.

Day 1

Arrive Lhasa (3650m) 

We can arrange your arrival in Lhasa from any where. You can either join the trip from Kathmandu and fly to Lhasa or arrive Lhasa from Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghai, Xian by Train or Fly . You will be met at Tibetan guide. After immigration formalities, you will be driven to Lhasa (3650 meters).

Day 2

In Lhasa/ Sightseeing Potala Palace and Sera Monastery 

after breakfast, you will set off to view the majestic Potala Palace, which towers above the city of Lhasa. You get to see an overwhelming array of intricate Tibetan murals, temples, stupas, and the tombs of the eight Dalai Lamas. After lunch, you will be taken on a visit to beautifully landscaped Sera monastery. At the monastery you can observe monks chanting and performing religious discourses.

Day 3


In Lhasa / excursion to Drak Yerpa caves and Jokhang Tempel Barkhor market 

The Drak Yerpa caves are about an hour’s drive to the northeast of Lhasa. Songtsen Gampo meditated and Padma Sambhava and several of his disciples. The site is strongly associated with Jowo Atisha and the early Kadampa mastersAfter Lunch we will visit the Jokhang temple provides yet another exciting and educative tour. Wandering around Barkhor market is another major highlight of the day.

Day 4


Drive 260 km from Lhasa - Gyantse (3950m) 

along the Friendship Highway you cross the Khamba La (4794m). the drive offers you stunning views of Yamdrok-tso Lake and the snowy summit of Nyichen Kang Saang (7206m). huge glacier, After passing through beautiful valleys and colorful Tibetan villages you arrive in the town of Gyantse

Day 5


Drive 90 km from Gyantse - Shigatse (3830m)

 Before departing from Gyantse, you will be taken tour to Gyantse Kumbum. The Kumbum is a large gold-domed stupa. It has many small chapels which houses an impressive array of Tibetan Buddhist murals. We move on to Shigatse, Tibet’s second largest city, which is about 90 km away

Day 6


Drive (280 km) from Shigatse – Lhasa 

you will be guided to explore the local market and the Tashilhumpo Monastery in Shigatse. Tashilhumpo Monastery is one of the largest functioning monasteries in Tibet and there is much to explore within its high surrounding walls. After a detailed visit of Shigatse, you will be driven back to Lhasa via a shorter route
